About being "Born again" (we prefer to refer to it as "born anew") simply means that the Holy Spirit has entered your body and guides you to live your life in a Godly fashion. In other words, if you were a drug addict before, or an alcoholic, or someone who likes to have sex with prostitutes or whatever, the Holy Spirit will be tweaking your conscience every time you desire to do these things. He will still give you the choice to do it, but with the Spirit of God inside you, you will KNOW you're not supposed to do it, and if you truly desire to belong to God, you will stop. Once the Holy Spirit resides in your heart, you will act and feel like a new person, someone who "suddenly" begins to understand what the Bible says, and you become hungry for more. Without the Holy Spirit you cannot understand the Bible, because it sounds weird to the "natural man" (1 Corinthians 2:14 and 1 Corinthians 1:18).
Those who pretend to be "born anew" or think that just because they "believe" in Jesus, they can do whatever they want - they will NOT be allowed to enter the Kingdom. YHWH is HOLY, He will not allow anything unholy in His Presence. As a matter of fact, He tells us that there is no sin sacrifice for deliberate, continued, willful sinning.
In order to be "born anew" one has to repent of his sins and ask God to send His Ruach haKodesh (Holy Spirit) to reside inside of us and to guide us according to YHWH's (Yahweh) will. Uncomfortable as it may seem for many, the only way to be born anew is to pray and wait until your prayer is heard. Of course, many are born spiritually at all different times, places and circumstances; there is no universal formula, although many would like to think so. It's helpful to be with one or more, or around others who have been spiritually born anew, but this is not a prerequisite. If another is requesting that you become “born again”, there should be no strings attached. For instance, many religions expect allegiance to a theology and along with your financial support for helping you to become “born again” - but all that really matters is your relationship with YHWH and His Mashiyach. Y'shua (Jesus) taught in Matthew 18:3, “unless you change and become like children, you will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.” He was of course referring to the capacity of children to believe, trust and have faith without doubting; and once we learn to walk “in” Mashiyach, he teaches us the things we need to know, which is why the Word of YHWH is so vitally important.
When a person is truly “born again” they enter into the Malchut Elohim (Kingdom of Elohim) and can easily distinguish between religion and the things of the Kingdom of Elohim, because “…the Word of Elohim is living and all-efficient and sharper than a two-edged sword, and enters even to the severance of the soul and the spirit, and of the joints and the marrow and the bones, and judges the thoughts and reasonings of the heart: Neither is there any creature which is concealed from before him; but every thing is naked and manifest before his eyes, to whom we are to give account.” (Hebrews 4:12-13).
Concerning your question about your teaching without the gift: Although we sometimes have to be given a nudge in a certain direction, unless God has given us a certain gift (Isaiah 11:2-3), we will not be able to do it properly. If God had given you the gift of "teaching" then you would be able to do it without a problem. You would WANT to do it because you would LOVE to teaching above anything else.
Without the gifting of the Holy Spirit, even if you are a "bad" teacher, as long as you teach what the Bible says, you're not a false teacher. A false teacher is someone who uses his own opinions instead of the actual Word of God. But unless you feel like you're "on fire" whenever you teach (or whatever your particular gifting might be), and you can hardly wait to teach - then you're not anointed by the Holy Spirit.
