Further explanation for atheists who insist on participating in Christmas and Easter, etc...

We asked:

  • Why is it that atheists celebrate Christmas and Easter since both of these holidays are to honor Yeshua (Jesus)? Why are most Americans (including the atheists) going into debt to buy "Christmas" presents? Why not totally ignore this holiday by going to work and carrying on, as usual? Don't you think it's a bit hypocritical to join in the festivities when you clearly abhor their very reason for being?

  • Why is it that atheists participate in Halloween, a pagan "holiday" that glorifies ghosts, witches, goblins, and grotesque creatures - and whose origins are steeped in the blood of human sacrifices?

  • Most of the Western World takes their "day of rest" on Saturdays and Sundays. As atheists, you should know that Saturday - the seventh day - is when Yahweh, our Creator - commanded us to rest!

Bottom line:

What we are trying to illustrate by posing these questions is that, regardless as to whether one is an atheist, pantheist, Satanist, or whatever - the fact remains that, by joining in these "Christian holiday" activities, you ARE caught up in God's commandments and human traditions designed for Him. The fact that you "celebrate" Christmas or Easter at all, shows you are, in some way, paying homage to Him. By the same token, by celebrating Halloween, you ARE bowing down to the dark forces. It doesn't matter whether or not you "believe" because, by "doing" you are participating in something designed to honor Yeshua/Jesus.

Furthermore, it was GOD who set up the seventh day Sabbath rest, and the WORLD has fallen into the routine, including any atheist who routinely has Saturday or Sunday off because you're in the seven-day cycle that GOD started - and which has never been broken. Please see God's Calendar and the Seven Day Week.

As atheists, unless you want to remain hypocritical, you should immediately cease your participation in Christian holidays, and you also need to start taking other days besides Saturday and Sunday off because you're on GOD'S cycle!

Here is our response to the comments some atheists have sent to The Refiner's Fire:

"I celebrate Christmas and Easter because my parents do." Sorry, but that is no answer. "Family tradition" is no answer. If it weren't for Yeshua (Jesus), the world wouldn't even have these holidays. They are religious holidays, which means anyone who doesn't believe in Messiah Yeshua has no right to "celebrate" them because they are not keeping "the real reason for the season". If there's "no real religious significance to" you, then you are being a hypocrite for celebrating them at all. If you feel the need to celebrate something, make up your own, but don't use the birth of Christ and then downplay it or ignore it.

"I enjoy Halloween because it's fun and nobody really knows the origin of it!" It doesn't matter HOW this pagan holiday of Halloween ended up being celebrated - the fact is, it has pagan origins, as evidenced by the fact that it pays homage to witches, ghosts, goblins and evil things. Would you eat brownies mixed with cow dung, or allow gasoline in your soup? It's the same thing as "allowing" your children to participate in something that was originally intended to worship pagan gods and witches. Just because it's become a "tradition" doesn't make it right, or lessen the crime against God.

God gave us the Bible so that we could know Him, know how He wants to be worshipped, and know how we are to treat each other according to HIS ways. Anything else is pagan and before Christ came, God used to put people to death for offering "strange fire" and worshiping pagan gods. The ONLY reason people are not being killed off today for worshiping "other gods" is directly because of Yeshua's death on the cross....

As for Easter egg hunts and Christmas trees, etc. see our articles about the pagan origins of: Christmas, Easter, and Halloween which show how paganism entered everyone of these "holidays".

"I take Saturday and Sunday off because my company shuts down on the weekend, plus I WANT them off!": Fine. Please be apprised that it's a CHRISTIAN Sabbath (even though God never said that Sunday was His Sabbath; the true Sabbath is SATURDAY, the seventh day). The bottom line is, you are catering to GOD, whether you realize it, or not. The seventh day Sabbath didn't come from some pagan custom; it began with Genesis 2:2.
