Dear Refiner's Fire...

Okay, some random thoughts:

In Titus 3:9 "9But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. "

But from which persepcetive were they areguing from ? what were they areguing about? were they aregueing that they should or shouldnt follow Torah? Ive tried the reading in context principle but im not quite seeing how it fits in with the rest of the chapter\book.

Modern calendars go from sunday to saturday which makes saturday the 7th day, hence Sabbath? then why are there friday night services? if the "Jews" went from dusk to dusk, instead of dawn to dawn, that might explain it? but what Scriptual commmandment would there be for going from dusk to dusk instead of dawn to dawn? In Creation it talks about morning and evening as being the first day? hence morning to morning?

The other question ive always pondered was- we are told to do good works,. we are also told that the whole counsel of G-d is in the OT and NT. how does Scripture then define good works. ?

Our Response....

Our response: They are talking about the early scribes; human opinions. Everybody thinks THEIR opinion is right and consequently, fights and arguments result.

Take for instance Yeshua. Rather than to get into weird arguments with Satan, he simply quoted Scripture. Instead of squabbling from our own perspective and coming up with a new denomination of Christianity every time we disagree with our pastors/leaders, we should instead ask ourselves AND the those leaders: "What does the Scripture say?"

Our response: God's "day" is from sunset to sunset (Genesis 1:3-31). "There was EVENING and there was MORNING. "Evening" was mentioned first and it is in the afternoon toward sundown. "Morning" begins right after sunset, not at midnight like "the world's" idea of "a day". Friday night at sunset is the beginning of the Sabbath. It ends at sundown on Saturday (whenever sundown happens to be, which is at different times throughout the year).

See Ask Moses and also read about the calendar origin.

You said: The other question ive always pondered was- we are told to do good works,. we are also told that the whole counsel of G-d is in the OT and NT. how does Scripture then define good works?

Our response: "Good works" is keeping Torah to the best of our ability. The Torah is our blueprint for moral living - the do's and don'ts God provided. Christians seem to think "the law" was abolished, but that doesn't make any sense when "the law" is the ONLY thing in the universe that provides an outline of moral behavior. "Good works" includes keeping the Sabbath and the feasts, and being kosher. See also Torah put in simple terms.

Do "works" save us? Nope! Until Yeshua offered Himself as our Final Sin Sacrifice, "works" used to include offering sin sacrifices to God - the shedding of innocent blood to atone for our sins. But, the shed blood of Christ took that part of the "works" away. That is the ONLY part of "works" it took away! Yeshua was our Final Sin Sacrifice. He did NOT come to abolish His own, original, all-important teachings!

Having the testimony of Christ is what saves us. But, the REST OF THE STORY is to be "law abiding" citizens of God. And how do we do that? By keeping His Torah. Revelation tells us:

Rev. 12:17 - "The dragon was infuriated over the woman and went off to fight the rest of her children, those who obey God's commands and bear witness to Yeshua."

Rev. 14:12 - "This is when perseverance is needed on the part of God's people, those who observe his commands and exercise Yeshua's faithfulness."

Who keeps bears witness to Yeshua AND keep God's commands? It is not the mainstream Christians! The above Scriptures are not talking about just the Ten Commandments. God warns us in Proverbs 4:2 - "I give you good instruction: Do not forsake my Torah." Since Yeshua said He didn't come to abolish Torah, and God said not to forsake His Torah, we should be taking this VERY seriously! With the advent of Christianity, the "Old Testament", along with God's original teaching and instruction, basically became null and void because they mistakingly think "Torah" equates to "law". BIG MISTAKE!....
