Dear Refiner's Fire...

Please help! I'm in a chatroom full of anti-Semites who are trying to use Matthew 27: 21-25 to show that the Jews are responsible for Jesus' death.

Our Response....

Those obvious anti-Semites are thinking with their carnal mindsets, not their God-given, discerning intellects.

First of all Matthew 27: 21-25, in most versions says "people", not "Jews".

Secondly, WHERE does Matthew 27 tell us the "crowd" consisted only of Jews who wanted Him dead?" A "crowd" is a mixture of many people. We don't know who was there!

Matthew 27: 15 Now it was the governor's custom at the Feast to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd.

Thirdly, WHO ACTUALLY NAILED YESHUA to the cross? WHO CRUCIFIED Him and gave Him gall to drink while He was hanging on the cross? It wasn't "the Jews" - it was the GENTILE PAGAN ROMANS who tortured, spit on, flogged, and mocked our Savior - not "the Jews"! Read further down in Matthew:

Matthew 27: 27 Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said. 30 They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. 31 After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

BOTTOM LINE: Who CARES who the people were, or what the people of that day and time said or did in order to send Yeshua to the cross? The fact is, it happened; it HAD to happen, and it was OUR SIN that nailed Yeshua to the cross! He willingly died - He could have called down legions of angels if He didn't want to go through with it. If He hadn't we would ALL be heading to hell. Thank God the people in that crowd wanted Him dead, because He HAD to die so that we could have eternal life, and He could thus fulfill His reason for coming in the first place: to be our FINAL SIN SACRIFICE!

To try to blame only the Jews for Yeshua's death is assinine and childish, not to mention, exhibiting total ignorance of the Bible.
