Jim Swilley: Another pastor sends message that being "gay" is normal

With churches everywhere preaching "tolerance" and "political correctness" it's no wonder Pastor Jim Swilley of Church in the Now, in Georgia decided to "out" himself in November 2010. His reasoning: He hopes to save lives....Unfortunately, the bottom line is, pastors like Swilley are the reason the world views believers as a bunch of wild-eyed kooks and hypocrites!

Comment at Fresh Loaf: As a practicing heathen, I'm not a big fan of professional clergy folk — especially those of the gold chain-wearing, evangelical Christian, mega-church variety. But there's a video online now by "Bishop" Jim Swilley, founder and senior pastor of something called Church in the Now out in Conyers, and I gotta say it's pretty powerful, even moving.

Chalk one up for the world's homosexuals! The above comment is indicative of the decadence that surrounds us! Wonder how many thousands or even millions "Bishop" Swilley is enticing into hell with him because of his declaration that God "made him gay"....

"Gayness", according to YHWH (Yahweh = The Creator), is "an abomination" (Leviticus 18:22); it is not an admirable quality or something to be proud of and actually embrace - especially for "men of the cloth." It would have been fine if Swilley had said something like: "I have to admit, I have sexual feelings for other men, but since YHWH SAYS it is a sin, I will never do it, and you shouldn't, either!" It's quite another thing to stand before your huge congregation to tell the world that homosexuality is NOT a choice and that God "made you gay" and therefore, it's a natural, normal thing....That would be no different from telling the world you are secretly a liar, adulterer, hater, thief, etc. and that those things are OKAY to do because God made you that way!

In listening to Bishop Jim Swilley's lengthy explanation one begins to wonder if YHWH is a hypocrite who purposely makes certain people "gay" on one hand; while on the other, He calls homosexuality an abomination and suggests homosexuals and all other sexual sinners will NOT enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Romans 1:22-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Revelation 22:14-15, etc)?

The discussion below examines who is right - God or Jim Swilley.

Like most Christian pastors, he has no clue what God commanded or what the Bible says about homosexuality or anything else! Why? Because Christianity teaches "another Jesus" and "another Gospel" - neither of which resemble anything that is taught in the Bible!

Christian churches teach nothing but "tolerance" and "political correctness" - to the detriment of their congregations, most of whom don't bother to check the Bible for themselves. For some reason, people are under the erroneous impression that they can play around with Yahweh's Word and twist it to suit whatever their agendas are. All their preachings center around "love" and the fact that believers only need to follow two commandments citing the following as "proof":

Matthew 22: 36 "Rabbi, which of the mitzvot in the Torah is the most important?" 37 He told him, "'You are to love ADONAI your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.' 38 This is the greatest and most important mitzvah. 39 And a second is similar to it, 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All of the Torah and the Prophets are dependent on these two mitzvot."

We would ask those who insist they only need to keep two commandments to please re-read verse 40 with the help of the Ruach haKodesh (Holy Spirit). Does verse 40 imply that all of God's original instructions/commands have been done away with? NO! "All of the Torah and the Prophets are dependent on these two mitzvot" (words/commands)! Nobody including Yeshua (Yahweh in the Flesh) had the right to negate any of the Father's original commands/divine Instructions in Righteousness!

And guess what: Yahweh's Word includes the fact that homosexuality is AN ABOMINATION and His people are to ABSTAIN from sin of any kind!

Leviticus 18: 22 - You are not to go to bed with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Romans 1: 22 Claiming to be wise, they have become fools! 23 In fact, they have exchanged the glory of the immortal God for mere images, like a mortal human being, or like birds, animals or reptiles! 24 This is why God has given them up to the vileness of their hearts' lusts, to the shameful misuse of each other's bodies. 25 They have exchanged the truth of God for falsehood, by worshiping and serving created things, rather than the Creator - praised be he for ever. Amen. 26 This is why God has given them up to degrading passions; so that their women exchange natural sexual relations for unnatural; 27 and likewise the men, giving up natural relations with the opposite sex, burn with passion for one another, men committing shameful acts with other men and receiving in their own persons the penalty appropriate to their perversion. 28 In other words, since they have not considered God worth knowing, God has given them up to worthless ways of thinking; so that they do improper things. 29 They are filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and vice; stuffed with jealousy, murder, quarreling, dishonesty and ill-will; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God; they are insolent, arrogant and boastful; they plan evil schemes; they disobey their parents; 31 they are brainless, faithless, heartless and ruthless. 32 They know well enough God's righteous decree that people who do such things deserve to die; yet not only do they keep doing them, but they applaud others who do the same.

2 Peter 2: 19. And they promise them liberty while they themselves are the slaves of corruption: for, by whatever thing a man is vanquished, to that is he enslaved. 20. For if, when they have escaped the pollutions of the world by the knowledge of our Master and Redeemer Y'shua the Mashiyach, they become again involved in the same and are vanquished, their latter state is worse than the former. 21. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after having known (it), to turn back from the Set Apart Commandment that was delivered to them. 22. But the true proverb has happened to them: the dog returns to his vomit and the pig that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

Getting back to Swilley, while it was noble of him to "out" himself to save lives, the bottom line is: What was he REALLY trying to prove? That homosexuality is "normal" and that the world HAS to accept it as such, especially since some illustrious pastor has come forward? According to the BIBLE, homosexuals are NOT on God's path, and therefore Swilley must now step down from the pulpit. Why? Because he is no longer considered "a man of the cloth" by Yahweh, because he is now guilty of deliberate sinning for which there is NO sin sacrifice!

Hebrews 10: 26 For if we deliberately continue to sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but only the terrifying prospect of Judgment, or raging fire that will consume the enemies.

Hebrews 10: 29 Think how much worse will be the punishment deserved by someone who has trampled underfoot the Son of God; who has treated as something common the blood of the covenant which made him holy; and who has insulted the Spirit, giver of God's grace! 30 For the One we know is the One who said, "Vengeance is my responsibility; I will repay," and then said, "ADONAI will judge his people." 31 It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

The Bible cautions us to "take every thought captive" (2 Corinthians 10:5). Once we allow ourselves to go with our "carnal desires" (as Swilley did), we've separated ourselves from God. And, while Swilley was pretending to be a happily married heterosexual all these years, he has deceived myriads of believers who trusted in him; and all the while thousands - perhaps even millions - of dollars in tithes were rolling in, in support of someone who we now know wasn't practicing what he preached....SHAME ON HIM!

2 John 1: 9. Everyone who transgresses and does not abide in the teaching of the Mashiyach, Elohim is not in him. And he who abides in his doctrine, he has the Father and the Son. 10. If anyone comes to you and does not possess this doctrine, neither entertain him in your house nor say to him, Joy to you: 11. For he that says to him, Joy to you, is a participator in his evil deeds. (AENT)

Romans 16: 17. And I plead with you, my Brothers, that you beware of them who cause divisions and stumblings apart from the doctrine which you have learned: and that you stand distant from them. 18. For they who are such do not serve our Master Y'shua the Mashiyach, but their own belly: and by bland speeches and good wishes, they deceive the hearts of the simple. (AENT)

1 Corinthians 6: 9. Or don't you know, that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of Elohim? Make no mistake! Neither sexual sinners, nor idol-worshippers, nor adulterers, nor the corrupt, nor men who lay down with other men, 10. Nor the oppressors, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of Elohim. (AENT)

1 Thessalonians 4: 3. For this is the will of Elohim, your sanctification; and that you be separated from all sexual sin 4. and that each one of you might know how to possess his vessel in sanctity and in honor 5. and not in the passion of lust, like the rest of the Gentiles who know not Elohim: 6. and that you dare not to transgress and to overreach anyone his brother in this matter; because our Master (Y'shua) is the avenger of all these, as also we have said and testified to you in time past. 7. For Elohim did not call you to impurity but to sanctification. 8. He therefore who spurns, spurns not man but Elohim who has given His Ruach haKodesh in you. (AENT)

Yes, we must all pray for Swilley and his family; and yes, we should try to "love him back into the fold" (although there is no sin sacrifice for deliberate sinning - Hebrews 10:26); and yes, we have to forgive him (Mark 11:25) because - as humans we are all born into sin and we continue to be prone to sinning, because Satan is relentless and he knows what "buttons to push". But we are also required to take to task someone who is deliberately sinning (Titus 1:13-16, Titus 3:10)! We are not supposed molly-coddle a sinner - especially a church leader! We are to take two witnesses (Matthew 18:15-19) and confront the sinner, and if he still refuses to get back on the right path, we are to shake the dust off our feet:

Matthew 10: 14. And whoever does not receive you, and does not hear your words, when you depart from the house, or from that village, shake off the dust from your feet. (AENT)

Luke 9: 5. And he who does not receive you, when you depart from that city shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them. (AENT)

Many believers believe "we're not supposed to judge" - but that is a total fabrication. WE aren't judging anyone; TORAH is the Judge! If someone has fallen off the path, we cannot stand by and ignore the sinner - especially these supposed "men of God" who try to tell us sinning is "normal"! We MUST try to guide them back onto the path. When Yeshua HaMashiyach (whom Christians call Jesus Christ) saw deliberate sinning, He didn't sit back and make excuses; He confronted the sinners - sometimes even engaging in physical action in order to make His statement (see Matthew 21:11-13) - and, He didn't hesitate to call supposed "men of God" hypocrites whenever He witnessed iniquity (see Matthew 6:2-5, all of Matthew 23, and Psalm 26:4-5 to mention just a few).

One of the main problems of today's lackadaisical churches whose leaders often don't practice what they preach, is that they believe Torah (God's Divine Instructions in Righteousness, without which we would have NO guidlines for moral, holy living) to be null and void. They believe "Jesus nailed it to the cross", without stopping to think exactly WHAT He nailed to the cross. He nailed our past SINS to the cross; He nailed our certificate of debt for breaking the Law to the cross - not His Torah. And He even said so:

Matthew 5: 17 Don't think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete. 18 Yes indeed! I tell you that until heaven and earth pass away, not so much as a yud or a stroke will pass from the Torah - not until everything that must happen has happened. 19 So whoever disobeys the least of these mitzvot (words/commands) and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But whoever obeys them and so teaches will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness is far greater than that of the Torah-teachers and P'rushim, you will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. (Stern's Complete Jewish Bible

Has everything happened that must happen? Have heaven and earth passed away yet? If not, then why have we decided that God's "forever" commands have somehow been superseded?

Make no mistake: God loves us, and He knows as humans we are prone to falling from grace. Yeshua paid the sacrifice for our sins; however, that does not mean we can do whatever we want because God does draw the line on continuous, intentional sinning. He said so:

Leviticus 26: 23 If, in spite of all this, you refuse my correction and still go against me; then I too will go against you; and I, yes I, will strike you seven times over for your sins.

Numbers 15: 30 "'But an individual who does something wrong intentionally, whether a citizen or a foreigner, is blaspheming ADONAI. That person will be cut off from his people. 31 Because he has had contempt for the word of ADONAI and has disobeyed his command, that person will be cut off completely; his offense will remain with him.'"

Deuteronomy 7: 9 From this you can know that ADONAI your God is indeed God, the faithful God, who keeps his covenant and extends grace to those who love him and observe his mitzvot, to a thousand generations. 10 But he repays those who hate him to their face and destroys them. He will not be slow to deal with someone who hates him; he will repay him to his face.

Isaiah 66: 24 "As they leave, they will look on the corpses of the people who rebelled against me. For their worm will never die, and their fire will never be quenched; but they will be abhorrent to all humanity.

It seems most Christians, including Pastor Swilley, don't realize that Yeshua says:

Revelation 22: 12 "Pay attention!" [says Yeshua,] "I am coming soon, and my rewards are with me to give to each person according to what he has done. 13 I am the 'A' and the 'Z,' the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." 14 How blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they have the right to eat from the Tree of Life and go through the gates into the city! 15 Outside are the homosexuals, those involved with the occult and with drugs, the sexually immoral, murderers, idol-worshippers, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood."

VERY CLEAR WARNING! Pastors like Swilley are deliberately trying to save the earthly lifestyles of gays, never seeming to realize they are destroying any chance for them to obtain eternal life....Please read Let's Get Graphic About Homosexuality and decide whether or not YHWH would purposely make someone "gay."
