There was no appearance of a "new God". God has, since the beginning of time, spoken through a "burning bush", a donkey, and a "pillar of cloud by day" and a "pillar of fire by night - not to mention, He appeared as three people to Abraham at Mamre:
Genesis 18:1-2;17 - 1 Adonai appeared to Avraham by the oaks of Mamre as he sat at the entrance to the tent during the heat of the day. 2 He raised his eyes and looked, and there in front of him stood three men. On seeing them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, prostrated himself on the ground....17 Adonai said, "Should I hide from Avraham what I am about to do....
God has plural aspects:
Isaiah 48:12,16 - 12 "Listen to me Ya'akov; Israe'el whom I have called: I am he who is first; I am also the last."....16 "Come close to me and listen to this: since the beginning I have not spoken in secret, since the time things began to be, I have been there; and now Adonai Elohim has sent me and his Spirit."
Furthermore John 1 tells us: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things came to be through him, and without him nothing made had being. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness not has suppressed it.
ADONAI has a Son:
Proverbs 30:4 - Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has cupped the wind in the palms of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name? Surely you know!
Yeshua was an aspect of YHWH, sent to earth in human form so that man could better identify with, and understand Him. He was sent to teach us about YHWH, how He wanted to be worshipped, how we should treat each other, and then to be the FINAL sin sacrifice. Killing chickens and swinging them over your head on Yom Kippur or feverishly waiting for the Third Temple to be built so you can continue "proper" sacrifices" is NOT fulfilling your sin sacrifice obligations. Yeshua DIED on the cross for all of us, and it is direct a slap in the face of ADONAI for you to ignore what He has ALREADY done for you!
If YHWH made the universe, the earth, and created all of us; and if He spoke through a burning bush, a donkey and a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, WHY is it so hard to believe that He sent an aspect of Himself to earth to teach us face-to-face? ADONAI is God and He can do anything He wants! The difference between Yeshua and all the other things God "spoke" through, is that Yeshua actually had a Name and He was foreshadowed throughout the Tanach. Yeshua was NOT a replacement for YHWH in any way! God said He would send us one "like Moshe" and He did:
Deuteronomy 18:17-18: On that occasion ADONAI said to me, 'They are right in what they are saying. 18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kinsmen. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I order him. 19 Whoever doesn't listen to my words, which he will speak in my name, will have to account for himself to me.
Yeshua fulfilled most the Old Covenant prophecies and has already fulfilled the first four feasts, with more yet to be fulfilled.
As for your questions/comments:
1. Please read Deuteronomy chapter 13. It does not allow for the appearance of a new God, no matter what miracles or signs may appear. Jesus seems to be what we are warned of.
Deuteronomy 13 is obviously one example of a testing situation. God routinely tests us - not so that God will learn what we will do because God knows all things (1 John 3:20). Instead, it is for the strengthening and purification of the faith of God's people so they might learn and grow through the test. Furthermore, God speaks to us in discovery terms so that we might hear and know that God "will use us" according to His purpose.
Read in context with the rest of the Tanach, Deut. 13 shows that God wants to be our ONLY God, and warns us to be careful about false prophets or prophecy (i.e., Allah, Mohammed,Buddha, Krisha, the Raelians, and other Satanic deceptions). However, since we are to do EVERYTHING He tells us, what do you do with the verses that tell us He is going to give us a New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34)? Do you ignore them because you are going to adhere to Deut. 13, come hell or high water?
There are at least 48 "dead-on" prophecies in the OT about Yeshua. What do you do with them? You cannot ignore the entire Tanach in order to cling to Deuteronomy 13 - that would be "picking and choosing" what you want to believe.
Humans do a lot of "reading into" and misinterpreting when it comes to the word of God. A good example of this are atheist websites, which do their level best to prove that God doesn't exist at all - and try to show that IF He really DID exist, then He was evil and bloodthirsty to the core. And, according to their findings, to those who don't know Scriptures very well, it would appear to be true. Here is a partial list of their "proofs" about our evil God:
- "Show No Mercy!" Deut 7:2
- "Make no peace!" Deut 7:2
- "March to War!" Numbers 32:20
- "Commit genocide!" Joshua 10:20
- "Enslave!" Lev. 25:44
- "Beat to death!" Ex. 21:20
- "Kill women and chilldren!" Numbers 31:17, 1 Samuel 15:3
- "Kill all prisoners!" Deut 7:2
- "Destroy!" Deut. 7:16
- "Annihilate!" Deut. 17:29
- "Slaughter!" Deut. 13:15, Joshua 8:24
- "Burn!" Deut. 13:15
- "Torture!" Lev. 24:23, Numbers 5:11
- "Massacre!" Numbers 21:2
- "Exterminate!" Deut 2:34, Deut 3:3
- "Crush!" Deut. 33:29
- "Smote!" Esther 9:5
- "Slash!" Judges 15:8
- "Burn!" joshua 6:24
- "Loot!" Deut. 20:10
- "Plunder!" Numbers 31:9, Deut 2:35
- "Rape!" Numbers 31:18, Deut. 21:10, Judges 21:11
- "Pillage!" 1 Samuel 23:5
Although these Scriptures do indeed say these horrid things, is that what our God is REALLY telling us to do? Not if it's read IN CONTEXT! Both, Jews and Christians are guilty of doing the same thing: Jews refuse to see Yeshua foreshadowed throughout the Tanach, and Christians refuse to realize that Yeshua did not come to abolish Torah....
2. The Bible clearly states many times that the Laws are to be kept forever. They do not apply to Gentiles, but there is no option for the Jewish nation. They are expected to keep the law forever. Please don't quote bits about God renewing his covenant with his people- that only implies strengthening the relation between the Jews and God.
Question: How many of the 613 "laws" are you actually keeping? Furthermore, what are you using as sin sacrifices these days? Please read Original Commandments.
Also, please limit yourself to OT sources when replying. I am familiar with the NT to some degree, but do not accept it's authority.
We're sorry you don't accept the authority of the NT, because it happens to be a continuation of the OT....
