Examples to show why we need to defend ourselves

Rabbi Shraga Simmons has on one of his web pages (aish.com) the following comments about Messianic Judaism/Hebraic Faith: "Underhanded tactics trick unsuspecting Jews into joining a Christian movement....a subversive organization. The missionaries' approach to ensnare unsuspecting people includes quoting Torah verses out of context and gross mis-translations."

If anybody is using "gross mistranslations" it's the anti-missionaries who have no problem twisting Scripture to suit their needs! The Refiner's Fire wishes to apologize for any "underhanded tactics" used by people in other organizations because God never meant for us to deceive each other about His Word. But, just take a look at what some "traditional Jews" are doing, and decide for yourself whether or not "they" are really the Godly emissaries they believe themselves to be:

The Anti-Missionary Study Hall: The first thing one notices on this site is the fact that he is a hypocrite who uses a Christian webhost. Then he cites the following verse, apparently in order to disprove God's plurality: "There is One; There is no Second. Also He has not a Son or Brother - Ecclesiastes 4:8."

Since when is Ecclesiastes 4:8 even about GOD? The Anti-Missionary Study Hall contains an article called, "Mistakes Some Missionaries Make", by Bendad. One of those paragraphs talks about how missionaries supposedly "Quote out of context". Hmmm, I guess the Study Hall webmaster didn't quote Ecclesiastes 4:8 OUT OF CONTEXT??????

Jewish Watchdog: When we tried to report a "White Supremacist" hatemonger to Dafna Yee and her "watchdog" organization, rather than to thank us, she slammed us for being Messianic, and went into a long tirade about OUR transgresssions (never mind that the website we turned in to her was urging its readers to KILL JEWS!

B'Nai Noach Torah Institute: BNTI's founder and president, Dr. Akiva Belk, without our knowledge or permission, used our personal e-mail correspondence with him to show his students how to respond to, and communicate with "missionaries". His "teaching" was not only deceptive and underhanded, but arrogant and patronizing - not to mention TOTALLY unprofessional! We praise God that one of his students who had enough chutzpah to report his antics....

Christianity Revealed is a website which not only blasts your eardrums with irritating music, but proclaims that the goal of the site is "not to criticize Christians" - yet it contains articles with very "colorful" language that is peppered with sarcastic and hateful verbiage. Example: "THIS IS CRAP! THESE ARE LIES! CHRISTIANITY IS FILLED WITH DAMN LIES!" When we wrote to one of the webmasters to ask him about this, his response was totally ungodly and unprofessional (We've taken the liberty to correct his spelling):

Your god was a dead man. Your dead man-god: crawled out from between a woman's thighs; cried for his food; suckled teats; crapped his pants; had to be taught to read and write and grew up and was killed!

I've got news for you -- that is NOT your CREATOR! That is a pagan idiot's dead-man god! Only an ignorant dumb a-- would embrace that line of crap!

Referenced Messianic Jewish Review: This is a listing of Messianic synagogues across the United States. Its supposed purpose is "to give you information on the background, leadership, history and support of Messianic Jewish groups" - all designed to ward off potential Jewish seekers of Yeshua. Once you check out what the webmaster has to say about various groups, it becomes obvious that he doesn't have a clue as to what Messianic Judaism (or, for that matter, Christianity) is all about. He is simply driven to warn "unsuspecting Jews" to stay away from these synagogues. Like most anti-missionary websites, this one ASSUMES or TWISTS facts in order to suit the purpose - which is, of course, bashing Messianic Judaism.

Sweeping generalities and outright lies literally dominate this website - please check it out for yourself. Furthermore, the host likes to point Messianic Jews to websites such as Messiah Truth which is ALSO littered with many unsubstiated tidbits. Anyone who knows his/her Bible will easily be able to pick up on the blatant Scripture twisting and unverifiable opinions that abound that particular website.
