The Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (commonly called the Unitarian Universalist Association or UUA) is a liberal religious organization, serving the Unitarian Universalist (UU) churches of North America. The UUA was formed on 1961 from the merger of the Unitarian and Universalist Churches. Unlike other religiously liberal faith groups, UUs are currently expanding in numbers - which shows that Satan is hard at work.
Before about 1960, UUs were largely considered the most liberal of Christian denominations. Since then, the beliefs of Unitarian Universalists have become quite diverse. They are now considered a separate religion and no longer part of Christianity. In 1995, the UUA acknowledged that its main sources of spirituality are: Christianity, Earth Centered Religions (Afro-American religions, Native American spirituality, Wicca, other Neopagan religions, etc.), Humanism, Judaism, other world religions, prophets, and the direct experience of mystery. Fewer than 10% of Unitarian Universalists identify themselves as Christians. The organization exists as a very liberal, multi-faith group.
Unitarian Universalists are perfect examples of most "carnal" beings who want to put God in a box and make Him conform to THEIR will. They adhere to a belief in "freedom, reason, and tolerance". In their attempt to be "free thinking" and "non-creedal," the UUs have become so liberal that they deny almost every doctrine of the Christian faith, replacing the worship of God with a worship of self, teaching that human reason and experience take precedence over the Word of God. Here are some highlights of what the Unitarian Universalists "believe" concerning their source of authority, the Trinity, God, Christ, salvation, and heaven and hell:
Source of Authority. The UUs deny the divine inspiration and absolute authority of the Scriptures. They claim the Bible was merely the creation of men, and therefore, the Bible contains many "inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and errors." They substitute human reason for revelation as their source of authority, and believe there are no absolute or infallible guides, including reason. In fact, UUs desire a world religion that "draws from and honors the teachings of all of the great religious traditions." (This, in itself, breaks the First Commandment!)
Trinity. The UUs deny that one God exists in three Persons. Instead, they claim that Trinitarian doctrine was added by the Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325.
But what does the Bible say?
While the Bible never actually uses the term "Trinity", God has revealed Himself to us via the following: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Yahweh has also revealed Himself through a burning bush, as pillars of cloud and fire, as "three men" to Abraham at the Oaks of Mamre, and He's spoken through a donkey. So, calling Him a "Trinity" is actually limiting Him....The mere fact that God revealed Himself to us in plural aspects shows that He IS a plurality:
He has a Son:
Proverbs 30:4 - Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has cupped the wind in the palms of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name? Surely you know!
God appeared to Abraham in the form of a man - actually THREE men:
Genesis 18:1-2;17 - 1 Adonai appeared to Avraham by the oaks of Mamre as he sat at the entrance to the tent during the heat of the day. 2 He raised his eyes and looked, and there in front of him stood three men. On seeing them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, prostrated himself on the ground....17 Adonai said, "Should I hide from Avraham what I am about to do....
God has plural aspects:
Isaiah 48:12,16 - 12 "Listen to me Ya'akov; Isra'el whom I have called: I am he who is first; I am also the last."....16 "Come close to me and listen to this: since the beginning I have not spoken in secret, since the time things began to be, I have been there; and now Adonai Elohim has sent me and his Spirit."
Furthermore John 1 tells us: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 All things came to be through him, and without him nothing made had being. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness not has suppressed it.
Also, God constantly referred to Himself in the PLURAL form. He even used "US" and "WE" to refer to Himself.
Gen 1: 26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; (Note - He didn NOT say "likenesses").
When Jews say the "Shema" ("Listen/Hear"), they say, "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One." The Hebrew word used for "One" in this case is ECHAD which is a plural form of "one" (as in ONE DOZEN eggs, or ONE BUNCH of grapes). Back in Biblical times, whenever they spoke of just one singular item - such as one egg, or one grape - they used YACHID. God NEVER referred to Himself as YACHID!
Back to the Universalists:
God. The UUs hold a variety of liberal views about God: Some do not believe that He is a Person, but instead claim He is an impersonal spirit, a natural force, or a principle. Some even claim that He is a created being, not supernatural. Others even deny His existence completely.
Jesus Christ. The UUs deny the deity of Christ -- that He is not God and Savior, but only a good man and teacher. They claim that the apostles and other Christian writers added to the Scriptures the teachings concerning Christ's atonement for sin.
What a slap in the face of the One who died for them!
Salvation. The UUs teach that the essence of salvation is character development ("deeds not creeds"), rather than faith in Jesus Christ alone -- the "social gospel" reigns supreme in UU. This belief allows every person to do whatever is right in his own eyes as long as he is sincere about it (including homosexual behavior -- UU became the first denomination to call for the legal recognition of same-sex marriages [Associated Press:6/25/96]; as early as 1970, UUs called for an end to discrimination against homosexuals and bisexuals, and in 1980, UUs resolved that homosexuals should be ordained.).
What does God say about that nonsense?
Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Hell. The UUs hold the "universalist" belief that no one will be eternally condemned - never mind what the BIBLE says! They, therefore, deny the existence of hell, claiming it is unreasonable for a loving God to send people to a place of eternal torment. They believe that we suffer the consequences of sin in this life only.
Perhaps the UUs need to read A Biblical Description of Hell....
1 Corinthians 2: 14 - But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.
