Dear Refiner's Fire...

Why after Yeshua (Jesus) fulfilled the prophecies contained in Passover, and the temple vail was torn in two, do we still need Yom Kippur? Yeshua was and is the final sacrifice allowing admittance to the throne of G-D, so this was fulfilled in Passover and not Yom Kippur. So what is the significance of The Day of Atonement when sin was paid for in another festival, that being Passover?

Our Response....

Good question, and the answer is threefold:

(1) Yahweh said to keep His Feasts (which includes the Seventh Day Sabbath as well!), and that didn't end with the death of His Son. Please see:

True Sabbath Day

Yahweh's Feast Days

(2) Yeshua hasn't yet fulfilled the Fall feasts. Yahweh is very methodical and He does EVERYTHING in order. So far, Yeshua has only fulfilled the first four (as outlined in the link above).

(3) Yeshua's death didn't abolish the need for us to keep repenting for our unintentional sins (i.e., letting a cussword slip, having inappropriate thoughts, etc) and restoring broken relationships. He died to forgive our PAST sins, not our present and future ones. As humans born into a fallen world, we tend to backslide or slip up at some point, even after we're "saved." That's what Yom Kippur is for.
